RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION
BOOK FOREWORD
FOREWORD
George Okpala in this book “Righteousness Exalts a Nation” distinguished himself as a social critic. With Nigeria as a point of departure, he delved into ethical, social and political life of Nigerians and demanded a total overhauling and change of attitude: a revolution that will bring about reformation of the politicians and the leaders as well as the civil servants, engineers, doctors, lawyers, teachers business people, truck pushers etc.
Through an in-depth analysis of the Bible, he made a copious comparison between Nigeria, the Kingdom of Israel and other developed nations. He emphasises the truth that prosperity and true greatness are experienced in a country only when the lives of her citizens have evidence of righteousness. The main thrust of his argument is basically ethical and moral re-orientation, nay the fear and worship of God.
For a country to progress and develop positively, righteousness, justice and the rule of law should be her foundation. “Train up a child in a way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it,” Proverbs 22; 6. The book ended on a happy note, namely, the prophetic vision and emergence of a New Nigeria where justice, righteousness and the rule of law will triumph over evil and wickedness. I sincerely recommend this book to all who have interest of Nigeria at heart.
